Origin & History
Blended together from cloves, star anise, fennel, ginger and cinnamon, Chinese Five Spice is the essential starting ingredient for a variety of Chinese and Asian dishes. Believed by its creators to help rebalance Yin and Yang, this particular spice blend has been in use for at least 3000 years!
Chinese Five Spice is also commonly used to stew fatty meats such as pork or duck. Any slow-cooked ingredient, whether meat or vegetable, will absorb the flavor of this blend particularly well.
